That would be a shame. It was packed on Sutter street.

The chamber has always done the cattle drive as a lead-up to the rodeo. They aren't sure they want the expense of the cattle drive in the future. It would be a shame to lose it.

You know, the city could offset some of the costs of the cattle run by opening the business up. Charging $5 for little kids to participate in the parade in their best Abe Lincoln outfits. Chili cook off with entrance fees. There's lots of stuff they could do to invite community participation. It sure would be nice if they were more inclusive. to the general public.

all good ideas. the city does not run this event. the chamber of commerce does. and they are knee deep in rodeo activities when its going on, so it would be very hard for them to add even more to their already hectic workload at that time.

maybe the public could step up and help out though.

I would like to bump this forward since there was no cattle drive in 2013.       I have really cool images from past years but there on my old computers.   Enjoy.

I've been volunteering for the parade for many years, and it is quite an event to put together, particularly while also producing the Country on the Green Concert and the Rodeo in the same week.

We had 60+ volunteers signed up (short of our goal), and had more from the Army, Folsom CAPS and Granite Construction for everything from street closures, traffic control, public safety, to babysitting the mutton busters, and they all do it for free.

I hope and expect it will be back again next year.
