Sacramento Metro Fire officials: 11 victims in New Folsom Prison riot

Officials at California State Prison Sacramento have requested eight ambulances after a possible shooting and riot there, according to authorities.

REPRESA, CA - Local fire agencies say there are multiple casualties in what a corrections official described as a "large incident" at California State Prison, Sacramento (CSPS), informally known as new Folsom State Prison.

California Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections representative Terry Thornton says one inmate was shot with a lethal round and at least four other inmates were stabbed, with three sent to the hospital.

Sacramento Metro Fire District said there were 11 patients.

Folsom Fire Department paramedics also responded.

Thornton said the violence took place in a general population maximum security yard. It was first reported at 11:17 a.m.

CSPC is located at 100 Prison Road. It is a maximum security prison that 3,254 inmates, according to its website.

I hope no guards were hurt.

I tell ya, this long summer heat is making people either crazy or crazier

Last update - no staff injured - One prisoner shot and 10 others with stab wounds taken to area hospitals.

if they shot the inmate dead, look at it as a tax savings, however its probably eaten up my the medical bills fixing the stab victims

I had the same thought if these criminals want to kill each other, fine. Just hope they don't hurt a guard.
