so my garage door wasn't going down on occassion. I called a company that I had seen referred here. The guy came out and said the door opening was getting old (its a 1997 Dalton) and that there was friction in one place on the bend, so it was making it hard to operate. He said it was going to go out soon and said I should get the single spring replaced with a double spring, replace the old metal wire with newer cable, replace the original plastic rollers with something that won't bend out and replace the opening itself. He said he would replace everything. $1100. So 1.5 hours later, he is done. it works fine. he only replaced the rollers, replaced the single spring with a double spring, and the motor and its track. the garage door (which is kind of rusty) and the tracks on either side of the door are still there (not new).

does this price sound fair?

What all did he install? If it was just springs that seems very high priced

new springs, a new opener, and new rollers on the existing garage door.

I had the internal spring on the torsion bar type deal. It's a Wayne Dalton door spring. Mine broke on the inside. A local Folsom guy came out, replaced it with an external pair of heavy springs, replaced the tension wires on the sides, and all of the roller wheels. $310. I have maybe 6 rollers on each side of my door?

so if he had changed out the opener motor, it would have been another $350 on top, so still only $660, so I was totally ripped off then. It was Sacramento Overhead Door/Carmichael Overhead Door. Okay, everyone. Be warned. I called them after reading the recommendations here. Bummer!!!

They replaced my door a couple years ago. Whole new door, new springs and I was able to talk them down to about $650.

they charged $35` for the garage door opener and track, $258 for two tension springs, $69 for one set of 7b foot cables, $129 for 1 set of rollers, $65 for a "c/bearing", $10 for disposal and $159 for labor. So $1131.85.

and that leaves me with my old garage door (no new door).

I called Sacramento Overhead Door (which also came up as Carmichael Overhead Door), but the receipt is from Garage Door Service Co.

I feel ripped off.

Did you leave a charge out or is that the "new math"? I get $725 with those figures.

I was going to ask the same thing. This doesn't total $1100.

It was back in 2007 when I had work done on my garage door.

They replaced the drive motor with a 1/2 horse motor $300.00
Extra remote: $30.00
New poly rollers $80.00
Tax $30.75
Labor/Service $75.00

Total $515.75

I think you got screwed...

here are the actual fees, since I didn't include them all before:

beltdrive opener $351
2 tension springs $258
1 set of 7 foot cables $69
1 set of rollers $129
1 c/bearing $65
disposal $9.95
tax $69.91
labor $159.95
total $1131.85

those are the totals. okay, well, I guess I learned a lesson! an expensive one! let my costly lesson be a little warning to you all, don't use these guys!
