On Wed Oct 31st Douglas Harris will be coming home to visit from Walter Reed Hospital. He received serious injuries in Afghanistan while serving and has a long way to go. Please consider coming out to show your support for him and his family. I'm passing along an email I received about the event:
We would like to give him the Hero’s welcome he deserves. Please come out to show your gratitude and thanks to one of our community’s own. He is a Union Mine graduate and well known in the county.
His plane arrives at the Sacramento International Airport on October 31st around 11:00 am. He is being picked up by a Hummer Limo and is expected to pass the Scott Road overpass around 12:15pm give or take. We’d like to line up Fire Trucks, banners, flags and most important PEOPLE on ALL THE OVER PASSES along the way and at the Placerville Drive exit to wave him on and welcome him home. Let’s let him and his family know how much we appreciate him, his service and his sacrifices.
The final stop will be the Veteran’s Hall in Placerville at 130 Placerville Drive right next to the fair grounds. There will be a celebration open to EVERYONE with refreshments served until around 3pm.
One of the organizers of this event is Harland Dains and his phone number is 530-622-0938. If you have questions or would like to volunteer to help at the celebration, please give him a call.
Please pass this on to everyone in the community and to all sources in the media you know. Add this to your face Book Page and Twitter. Let’s get the word out! Thank you very much!!!!

Where should we park?
There is not really a great place for parking. There is a parking lot off to the left of East Bidwell, I believe its where the In'n'Out is, there is a Starbucks and a hotel there as well. It is just before the overpass. That is the best place I can think of. You can go to any bridge over Hwy 50, so there may be a bridge with parking a bit closer.

TIME CHANGE!!!!!
Due to the hurricane flights have been delayed... so, his plane will be arriving around 7:10pm, and coming by Scott Rd at around 8:00pm give or take. I hope more people can make it since it is not during normal working hours. See you there! I will post any more changes if they occur. Thanks everyone!
