We are moving to Briggs Ranch soon. We were standing outside our house when a little girl and her brother handed us some candles and explained to us that it is a 30 year tradition to light luminaries on Christmas Eve. We went back at 6 to light the candles and took a walk around the neighborhood. It was beautiful and we just know we made the right choice.
is Briggs Ranch 30 years old already? how did that happen? I remember when they were just starting to build it. I still think of it as new.

It's actually more like 22 years old, but close enough. I don't think building along Briggs Ranch Drive occurred until 1990. The adjacent homes in the Hancock area were built earlier, and I think they probably have been doing the luminaries for 30 years. Wonderful tradition.

Our house on Willow Creek was built in '86 (we've only been here for about 5 years) and we've been told it was one of the first around here.
I think it depends what part of Willow Creek you are on if you are in Briggs Ranch. If you go to Google Maps and just put in "Briggs Ranch, Folsom" it will show a dotted line that encompasses Briggs Ranch that the city zoned for housing in around '87.
I think the other areas nearby (Willow Creeks Estates? Rancho Diablo?) also participated in the luminaries and it spread as houses were built, which is a good thing:)

You're correct, we're part of Rancho Diablo.
Devil's Ranch? what developer came up with that name!?

I've never heard that name used except on real estate listings like Trulia or the assessor's parcel map viewer. Our neighborhood is considered Alice Wild, who I found with a little google-ing was Elvie Briggs' mom whose full name was Alice Perrazzo Wild Anderson.
Point is, the reason the tradition can be considered 30 years old even though Briggs Ranch has only been around for 22 years is because it started in the Willow Creek/Rancho Diablo sections that were built earlier.

As for the luminarias, long before I moved here in 2001, we used to bring our kids up to visit my in-laws who lived in what is now my neighborhood, and we fell in love with the place.
Up until they were in their teens, I'd take my daughters, nieces and nephews for a slow ride through the luminarias. They'd stand on the running boards and hold onto whatever they could as I drove slowly down the street with only my running lights on.
Those kids are all adults now, but that is a cherished memory I have. .

I am SO going to miss you as my next door neighbor! We are moving to Briggs Ranch soon. I should put the word out. I'm going to be looking for a 4 bedroom (or 3 bedroom with separate dedicated office) in Folsom to rent starting either mid-March or April 1. I would love a single story, pool, great kitchen, and an RV spot but a great kitchen is really the only one of those we wouldn't do without. We are great tenants, are very handy so we do lots of repairs/upgrades ourselves, my boyfriend wants to take care of the yard himself, and we have a non-destructive dog. We would prefer the Historic District or Natoma Station first, but are open to other areas except for Empire Ranch, the Parkway, or any gated community. If anyone knows of anything that fits that bill, please let me know.We will miss you too CW68...We just have to find a home for you close by

I had to read that second last sentence twice because I missed the "except' the first time. I was preparing to be shocked!I should put the word out. P.S. There is a far outside chance our 4-bdr home in the Preserve will be available in April (nice kitchen; no pool, 2-story, location, location, location). Current tenants are month-to-month, but have shown no indication of leaving other than the fact that he has been hoping for an overseas promotion that would prompt a sudden move.
