Every time the rain raises the flow rate of Humbug Creek there is a Heron at this location waiting for a fish on the move.

The Heron was still there today. The Heron would stand at the edge of the cement and move back to the rock when observers were near.
When the water drops a little I will retrieve that folding chair!

can we make these photos smaller? I only get 1/3 of it on the screen
I believe that an egret is a name that can be interchanged with some breeds of herons.

The Image fitting on your screen could be an issue with your computer settings. Click on the image and it will go to the URL. Save the Image and you could resize on your computer.
About five years ago with a high creek flow rate a giant Blue Heron was perched on the same limb.

there are two bald eagles, a nesting pair, hanging out at Lake Natoma too. keep watching the highest grey pines.

Saw a heron about a month back staring into a window at my work grooming himself.

While I would call this one an Egret - here is more info that says many are actually herons from Wikipedia
-An egret (pron.: /ˈiːɡrət/) is any of several herons, most of which are white or buff, and several of which develop fine plumes (usually milky white) during the breeding season. Many egrets are members of the genera Egretta or Ardea which also contain other species named as herons rather than Egrets. The distinction between a heron and an egret is rather vague, and depends more on appearance than biology.
