I need some smaller pieces of marble or granite. They won't be installed permanently, but used for tabletops, windowsills, and such. Does anyone have any recommendations for stone shops that will accomodate? I'm willing to choose my pieces from remnants on-hand and (of course) pay to cut/polish/edge.

We have had Stokes Granite and Stone on Main in Orangevale do several small jobs for us and they have been great to work with. They do very large jobs also. It is a locally owned family business. The piece thay are doing for us now is from their remnant yard. www.stokesgranite.com
