Just got back from a wonderful mid-morning/early afternoon day on Sutter. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful. Here are some notes/highlights:
- Got some produce, local honey, and croissants at the Farmer's market.
- Karen of the same named bakery was giving a cooking demo with foods from the market. It was a scone with apples sauteed in sugar and butter topped with a spcied whipped cream. Yummy!
- The ice rink was open. Didn't skate, but it looked fun. Instead of the usual taped music, they had live musicians. 2 young guys on a keyboard/guitar duo singing soft rock and standards. Very talented and provided a good atmosphere for both the market and rink.
- There were also live musicians outdoors at the market, antique shop, and Hamptons. I love outdoor musicians as they proviude a good ambiance.
- Bought a bottle of olive oil at We Olive. Beautiful shop, much nicer than EDH.
- Not too Shabby had refreshments and selling Christmas decor. I try not to get into the spirit until Black Friday, so didn't buy anything.
- American Visions is celebrating their 10th anniversary tonight. There will be snacks and drinks from 4-8
- The vacant shop next to American Visions is being renovated. Looks like there will be a new tenant, but no indication on who.
- They're reinstalling the Folsom Railroad Museum today. The restored railcar was on a flatbed, and there was a crane and forklift ready to lift it in place. Would have liked to watch, but it would have taken a while. Don't know when it will reopen.
- The intersection of Reading and Figueroa now has a 4-way stop. Hooray!
Days like these make me glad to live in this town. Go down and check it out!
