Howdy Folks!

For a spring edition of Make Folsom Weird (assuming winter ever arrives), I wanted to do a blog on a fun, quirky garden in Folsom. Not your usual rows of roses lined with early spring tulips kind of garden but something over the top! If you have ever seen such a garden (or you have one, or are planning on creating one over the next few months). Please give me a shout out. Thanks!

hopefully they will be able to water it this year!

There is a possibility of Stage 5 restrictions coming, which would mean NO outdoor irrigation.  It would also mean 50 percent water use reductions.

If anyone can help me get in contact with the owners of these gardens would you please PM me. Many thanks!

I also have a  question. If there are outdoor water restrictions can I still use the water I have been collecting in buckets around the house to water my flowers? We have been keeping water buckets at the sinks, bathtub/shower to catch excess water and then use that to water outdoor herbs and flowers. (We turned off our automatic system in October.)

yes, absolutely.  right now you can still water plants two days a week.  if the city moves to Stage 4, then its down to 1 day a wee.  if it goes to Stage 5, then you will have to rely on your buckets from the house to water outdoors.

If we get to stage 5 (no watering outside), does the city reimburse the citizens for their costs of landscape when everything dies? does all new construction stop?

I don't think the city is responsible for the financial damages due to a drought, nor should they be.

Agreed, I think the only time they could be responsible is if they were found to be negligent with misusing the water.

No and no.

Since the answer to your second question is no, I don't really see much point in replacing landscaping since these water restrictions will become a regular thing.  Even drought-resistant landscaping needs water at some point.
