In today,s paper, the Sac Bee editorial board has endorsed Chad Vander Veen for city council...   Miklos did not make the cut -

Sure hope it works out that we can loose Miklos in this election.

Folsom is a city going through some growing pains, so it’s good that its future is being loudly debated in a competitive City Council race.

Three longtime incumbents – Kerri Howell, Steve Miklos and Andy Morin – are up against four credible challengers. One in particular stands out.

Chad Vander Veen, a former city architectural review commissioner and now an editor of a website focused on city issues, is an articulate advocate for a clearer vision of where Folsom should go. He says city leaders have done a good job establishing Folsom as a good place to live, but are stuck in a rut.

Another great  day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

What a wonderful surprise to see The Bee endorse a challenger.  When I read the headline I was expecting the same ol' 3 but then a funny thing happened on the way to reading the same 3 last names, no Miklos, but  rather Chad Vander Veen's name . My first thought was "Whoa" can this be true..  This  endorsement, coupled with Ernie Sheldon's op/ed  letter in the Wednesday's Telegraph is the type of momentum that can start to turn the tables in booting out Miklos. But lets not stop there, lets vote in another challenger and get Howell out as well.  A trifecta of getting Morin out as well would be ideal.  Way to go Chad!

Congratulations, Chad!  You just got my vote!  I don't always follow the Bee endorsements, but to see them endorse a challenger seals the deal in my mind that you are truly the best of the challengers!!

I was beginning to get worried - but, now feel good that Chad will most probably win. About the only thing it said about Howell is that she's a woman on the council. I think she needs to be replaced with Jennifer Lane.

Personally,  I hope many readers will view the "3 seats open" topic.        Chad definitely deserves the endorsement.     But the Bee has too many top executives playing golf with a certain FPA  (south of 50)  land owner --  the Bee editorial is afraid to speak the truth --  WE NEED NEW BLOOD.

  • Bee even claimed "nearly 3,600 acres of cattle land" is at stake.    BS, B,   there is over 6,000 acres in question.   Even your buddy owns more than the "cattle ranchs."
  • Bee called Jennifer's   WATER B4 GREED   "simplistic".    Well, of course BEE did, because BEE must pretend the WATER THEFT will actually be permitted --   even though putting PUBLIC WATER in the control of one man is a threat to us.     If they think public water which DOES NOT EXIST  will be a commodity for the Conaway Ranch & rice farms OWNER to continue selling for big private bucks -- they are messed up.     Tell the Bee we refuse to cut our water to 20% of what we need, so that two greedy landowners can SELL public water to southern CA.
  • Hey,  BEE,   your claim about the Historic District "city spent millions on improvements"  is PURE SEWAGE.     City council took money from two bonds and did some painting and rejuvenation   BUT  they left the sewage pipes the same old 19th century and 20 century mess.    You cannot put 133" of sewage-pipe sewage into a 27" mainline, that does not even begin until south of Natoma Street.
  • How much of that HD $33 million was spent on a contractor who puts down paving rocks?
  • How much was spent to extend our sewage MAINLINE to this area -- so city sewage didn't get into the river and ground?

The Bee could not ignore Chad's qualifications, but they sure did a dis-service when they printed INACCURACIES about what those two incumbents have done.   The Bee staff have many public records supporting the above information --  but the FPA land owner plays golf with Bee folks, so everything is distorted.

I know your point is funding, Dave, but the small signs disappearing is more likely an issue of illegally placed ones than of something more nefarious.  When Roger's signs first came out, he had them peppered all over L&L spaces and other locations where he did not have permission to be.  If candidate signs disappear, you might check the city corp yard.  When they collect illegal signs, they save them there for candidates to collect if they want to.

Two signs have disappeared from my yard, neither of which were for sitting council members. One lasted less than 12 hours. They weren't placed illegally.

That was my point, I've noticed the same.  The new candidate signs I've seen were not on public property, and now poof they're gone. I don't think we have elves stealing them and I can't see kids stealing them, however I could see incumbents getting their panties in a wad over seeing competitors signs, and the way they run things in this town it is very believable that they'd have city staff removing competitors signs.

I also think it's a bs sham that developers allow the incumbents to erect giant signs on their properties while all competition is not allowed to do the same.  Not sure why anyone has a problem seeing how wrong that is.
