Folsom residents will have the opportunity to help shape the future of this city by exercising their right to vote next fall.

Folsom City Council seats currently held by Jeff Starsky and Ernie Sheldon are up for grabs, as are the 2 School Board seats held by Teresa Stanley and JoAnne Reinking. Additionally, County Supervisor Roberta MacGlashen has announced that she will not be seeking re-election.

Do you intend to stay the course and vote for the incumbents (if they decide to run) or do you feel we need someone new?

Who would you like to see run for public office?

What do you expect of them?

It seems the growth and water are hot-button issues. What other issues are important to you?

I think we all know how most people on this forum feel about Starsky, but the only way to unseat him is to not dilute the challenger pool.

Thanks, but no.

I'd rather remain a private citizen volunteer. I can do things to help without being held to differing unreasonable standards or being required to attend meetings.

Starsky MUST GO. Time to put the old herd out to pasture. Time for a change in our ancient guard, anyone who's been on the council more then 10 years should be retired out, voted out. Time to go.

Wish Ernie would run again - he's been the best city council member we've had in the past 10 years. That guy genuinely truly cares about the residents and well being of our town. He's the only one who is not wholly owned and manipulated by developers.

Who would you like to see run?

Any of the previous candidates? I believe Roger Gaylord is going to run. I'm wondering if there are any others.

I'd like to see Roger Gaylord run again, I like his ideals and think he is what this city needs.

Who else is running?

I'd like to see Chad run again, but perhaps with a PR team to get his name, face, and message out there. And if people are serious about new candidates, they need to support them financially. Every little bit adds up.

Well, if they ALL run again, I'd expect the same result.

Roger Gaylord said on his FB page that he's running again. Kerri announced on Tuesday she's running for Supervisor.

SCA, if Kerri wins the Co Supervisor election, how do they pick a replacement?

I'm not sure if the remaining four council members would appoint someone to fill her place or if there would be a special election.  I don't know if that's determined by the city's charter, or by state law, or something else.  More candidates are expected to enter the race for Supervisor so it's doubtful anyone will win that seat outright in June - he or she would need 50% of the votes plus one.  It's more likely that the top two primary finishers will face a run-off in November.

City charter reads -

"The method of filling vacancies on the City Council shall be as provided by state law."

Government Code - Section 36512 b
