| I have SBC Yahoo DSL! So yes, it is available. We pay $39.95 a month but that is because we are a "Total Connections" customer meaning we have local, long distance, cellular and DSL services with them and got a special rate. Everything is all on one bill. The service is fast but if you have a "Millineum" (sp?) operating system I would chage it first because it messes everything up! |
$40/month for everything!!!!! Good price.

It's pretty fast, but not as fast as DSL. I'd say 500 Meg would take about 5 minutes. Just a guess though, I have never downloaded anything that large.

They offer 24 hour tech support which is a plus.
A couple of weeks ago I took them up on adding long distance (with no hook up fee) and learned that the Internet part of the service had a special going for $29.95. I checked and got that price for a year instead of the $39.95.
I eliminated one part of my phone service---calls to "outlying" areas such as Auburn, Roseville, etc. ($4.30) so my long distance monthly cost of $5.00 again put me about even with that, and I also got my long distance calls at 2 1/2 cents a minute on a 200 minute allowance. With a calling card I was paying 3 1/2 cents a minute. We will now be paying about +/- $65.00 a mo. for DSL Internet, basic phone, and long distance.
I am not fond of Yahoo but once you get used to it, it is OK. I liked Outlook Express better. Having to sign in on Yahoo each time is a pain.
I was told by SBC that the speed of the operation depends on how close you are to the "transmitter". We in Folsom do not get quite as fast service as say Orangevale or Fair Oaks. I am not sure just where the service comes from.

The service is very reliable.

However, we did experience no dial tones the day before our DSL was supposed to hook up. Wierd. They finally got it fixed and everything is running fine. We just had 2 days without phone service.
I don't have to log into SBC Yahoo to go on the internet though. So I wonder why some of you have to do that. I just hit Internet Explorer and I am on the internet.
My 16 yo son did the internet installation on all the computers in our house so installation isn't too hard. He spent a half a day doing it for us. What a sweetheart. (also, he's lost and b o r e d without the internet.)
I recommend SBC ~ the customer service is pretty good. They were patient and walked my son through the installation.

SBC is a great DSL company even though their tech support bites, I have been with SBC DSL for around 4 years now and they have been extremly reliable with my connection. My max DL is 210 k/bs a sec. Thats on a good server though I.E aol.com
I hear most other DSL companies are really horrible, and I don't think I could ever get cable internet I just hear too many bad things about it, but I would like to have a Dynamic IP addy and not a static one.
