City May Require Transvestite Bathrooms By MICHAEL ASTOR, Associated Press Writer
32 minutes ago

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - For most, it's a choice of the men's room or the women's. A Brazilian city is trying to give an option to those who don't fit easily into either category.
A bill passed by the Nova Iguacu city council on Tuesday would require night clubs, shopping malls, movie theaters and large restaurants to provide a third type of bathroom for transvestites. Mayor Lindberg Farias will decide whether to make it a law.

Folsom city council members wouldn't last long. Try SF.

My question may be answered in the article, but the link's not working for me -

Are we talking about 4 total bathrooms? Way I figure, you'd need your basic Women's Room and Men's Room (that's two) plus one for men-turning-into-women and then a fourth for women-turning-into-men.

Also, if my long-held suspicion is true, the Women's Room has lots of ammenities that Men's Rooms dont - like couches, pool tables, satellite TV, accupuncturists, etc. Do the shemales get this in their rooms? Or will it be no-frills?

Actually, the UC system has already written a proposal similar to the one Rio de Janeiro to create gender-neutral bathrooms on their campuses for not only the transgender folk, but those they need assistance in using the facilities and are accompanyed by someone of the opposite sex.

You're on the right track sir.

The full plan will call for a total of 37 types of bathrooms however once hermaphrodites, pre-op, post-op and handicapped transvestites are given full consideration.

Some have argued that a 37 bathroom legal requirement may put some small business owners in a financial bind, forcing them to choose between going out of business or adding a second story or remote location to support the additional floorspace required, but I happen to think that it's a small price to pay for gender equality.

Some of the details however still need to be worked out, as in, which types of bathrooms get standing urinals?

I don't think that plan is comprehensive enough.

There should also be separate facilities for moms and potty-training-aged sons, and another for dads with potty-training-aged daughters. Needless to say, the potties should be lower to the ground for the ease of the children.

True. I wouldn't be surprise if SF will required multiple types of bathrooms to meet all of its wacko needs. lmaosmiley.gif One for male, female, trans., gay, les., homeless, and one for the political correctness. Expensive way to build public bathrooms.

Don't forget restrooms for sitters, readers, junkies, perverts, cruisers, seat-soakers, Liberals and Conservatives (paper is on the right).

We should absolutely have separate facilities for the slobs and the neat-niks. It is my Constitutional RIGHT to have clean public restrooms available! How else can I enjoy the "pursuit of happiness?" lmaosmiley.gif

that's it I'm suing any business that doesn't have a bathroom specifically designed for me.
requirements:
a urinal set just at the right height for me.
a personal towel attendant distributing freshly washed 100% cotton hand towels.
toilet paper with no less than 3 plys. none of that single ply compressed pine tree junk.
gold plated fixtures on the sinks that are wiped down and disinfected after each use.
adequate reading material including at least, the day's wall street journal, the sacramento bee with rex babin cartoons removed, sports illustrated, time, the complete works of mark twain, stephen crane, and joseph heller.
piped in music including wagner, bach ... or van halen.
a pool table and couch (if the women are getting one I should too).
a security guard to keep out undesirables (especially george michael).
individually wrapped mint m&m's (no red ones as red is for communists).

anything less would be uncivilized.

But isn't EVERYTHING these days about *rights*?......The thinking is that since the Constitution says that I have the right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," I therefore have the *right* to get things MY way. dry.gif

Transvestite bathrooms takes the cake!

This reminds me of one of my first jobs after college. I was working in SF for a business that did have a he/she employee for a while. He/she did end-up using the ladies room, and it was not a problem since all the stalls had doors......His/her choice of restrooms was the least of our concerns about this co-worker.

I used to work with one as well... She went by a female name and dressed like one, but it was always awkward working with 'her'. I mean, they gotta work too, I understand it. It's just wierd.

Excellent point forumreader.

"Rights" are very tricky because they not only have to be granted by someone (the government), but they also have to be protected.

Instead of rights, how about everyone simply have the liberty to build whatever type of bathrooms they want?

Rights are for children, liberty is for adults.
