Seems like there's been a lot of turnover in city management lately.

If she wants to spend more time with her family, I can understand that too.
Good luck Martha in what ever you do.

I thought she was over paid anyway... her husband has a decent job running the RHA Regional Housing Association....

Her husband's job should have nothing to do with how much she makes.

she makes 200k a year, and everyone is moaning about how much firefighters and cops make???? gimme a break.......
Are you trying to turn this into a boo hoo... let's give the firefighters and cops more money conversation. I think there is already a thread on this topic somewhere.
Martha's salary is comparable to other city mangers in the area... and definitely less than Roseville... see the SacBee article earlier this month.
So we should all be mad at Martha because she earns quite a bit of money doing an important city job. Sounds like some people are a little GREEN WITH ENVY

It's really pretty funny when those that try to exude their intelligence over what they deem to be the "underlings" of the formum actually cross themselves up and admit when they are wrong. It was said that the city manager makes a salary comparable with neighboring city managers. Perfect. Make all of the city employees comparable then. Police and Firefighters included. Thanks for your vote!!!!!!!
SacBee statistics for city manager salaries...
Roseville $241,419
Elk Grove $211,150
Sacramento (retiring) $208,900
Folsom $198,224
Rocklin $183,600
Citrus Heights $175,000
Rancho Cordova $173,976
Davis $131,114
Average $190,422
City-Search.com statistics for firefighter salaries (some data is from 2002)...
Roseville $93,999
Sacramento $82,114
Sacramento Metro $80,000 (Approx from SacBee)
Davis $77,243
Folsom $70,020
Rocklin $50,845
Average $75,704
Folsom firefighters are approx 92 percent of the average around the area. Martha's salary was approx 104 percent of normal. So yes... both salaries are in the ballpark relative to their averages. If you want to make this a socialist type government... everyone can make the average. We'll make the new city manager make the average ($190,422)... and the firefighters the average ($75,704).
Sound good. Will you stop your whining? Probably not.

I don't have a problem w/ that, but I do have a problem w/ overly generous retirements. That is a whole other discussion that we've already had.

Too bad your information is wrong. Go to Folsom's website for the current salaries of your "beloved Folsom public servants". Whining, I think not. Competing in the open market in an affluent city for competative salaries... hmmm....the american way.

The information I gathered was from March of 2002 on City-Search. It stated the following.
57 Firefighters with a monthly full-time monthly payroll of $332,598 which makes an average of $70,020. This most likely includes the entire "Emergency Response" portion of the fire department... and most likely benefits.
I checked the city of Folsom website (which is only 2003-2004 data)... and using available statistics for the "Emergency Response" portion of the department... there are 66 employees making a yearly salary of $3,947,366 and $6,603,053 with benefits. This puts the average at $59,808 and $100,046 respectively. Still a very respectable salary... and GREAT benefits added on.
Like I stated... we can make this a socialistic government where everyone earns the average wage. If you can agree to this... then it is settled. We can figure out what the average salary of the Sacramento area is... and that will be your wage. Happy... problem solved.
