Im looking for a place to take my girlfriend out to dinner for our anniversary, and Ive heard good things about the Cliffhouse. It looks like a cool place to go. What's the food like? What's the dress code? Or is there somewhere else romantic and nice I should consider?

I went there once and the food was pretty good- and if I remember right they gave you alot of it. I was stuffed!

If you want to eat then go to hometown buffet, but otherwise go to cliffhouse to impress your chicks.

You didn't indicate ages or what you like.
I think the Cliff House caters to a more traditional, often older crowd. Are you looking for something like that? Are you looking for something more trendy? Maybe Pachanga's might be for you.
Bailie's has usually been good, but I haven't eaten there since the new owners took over.
I love Scott's, and there are certain sections of it that can be romantic and quiet.
Bidwell St. Bistro is great, too.

If going to Cliff House, I'd wait 'til summer when you can sit out on the patio at sunset. The view is beautiful. As for the food - so-so. It definitely wasn't worth the price, but we were using a gift certificate so it didn't matter so much. For two, it cost us the entire gift certificate of $75, plus some to completely cover the tip. That was for two entrees, two coffees, and one dessert. No other drinks or sides and I can't say it was the tastiest meal I've ever had. But, yes, the view made it very romantic. If we ever went back, it would be to share a dessert at sunset in the summertime.
We haven't lived here long enough (about 6 mos.) to go out to eat anywhere else romantic. We used a gift card at Tahoe Joe's and the food there was very good (I had prime rib and my hubby had baby-back ribs and we both really liked our meals and had leftovers to bring home). But, I wouldn't classify Tahoe Joe's as romantic. Otherwise, we haven't been out to eat anywhere else for dinner.
We've heard very good things about Scott's (seafood). You can check out their menu and prices online.
P.S. Regarding Cliff House, we called first to find out about the dress code. They said "casual." We wore jeans and didn't feel uncomforable, and we saw others dressed nicer as well.

I hope that the 83 means the year your born which mean's your about my age and If you are young which I hope you are Macaroni Grill is a great place to have a romantic dinner but if your older then Cliffhouse is ok, but very expensive, it has seafood/steak the menu is at http://paragonsteak.com/ also I forgot Scott's Seafood is a great place too.

When it's time for REAL romance, I always head straight to Sizzler. Nothing says "I love you" like an all-you-can-eat salad bar.

I'd say Scott's, Bailies, or Slocum House (if you want to trek to Fair Oaks, but it's really good and super-romantic).
