I saw a bear a week ago while out riding on RattlesnakeBar Road by the lake. It was a medium sized brown bear sitting in the middle of the road. The dang thing just sat there and stared me down for a minute or so before scampering off into the trees.

It was awesome to see the bear! - I enjoy experiences like that. I've seen several bears while out camping over the years - used to see a bunch when I went camping at Mt Whitney. Couple times have encounted them in my campsite late at night, best weapon is pots and pans - banging them together scares the heck outta bears.

Those little air horns that you carry on boats work good too when camping. They fit better under your pillow than pots and pans.

Hope little Humbug doesn't get hurt when and if they capture him.

what a coincidence! I just installed air horns on my motorcycle last night so I'm fully prepared now the next time I encounter a bear on a road. (but they're really intended for waking up bad drivers)

hehehe and they're definately a lot more convinient to carry then pots and pans

Looks like it actually got in someone's garage near Blue Ravine and East Natoma!

I dunno, but if he's been running around the city for a while now................that does seem to answer the age old question of "does a bear poop in the woods"????
