My neighbor says that one of her cats was killed around 5 in the morning by a vicious dog that was out roving free, about six months ago I think. She said she heard commotion and ran outside to her front yard just in time to see this dog take off down the street with her cat in its jaws. She contacted Animal Control, but was in a serious car accident shortly afterwards and doesn't know whether any action was taken.

The neighbors thought they saw the same dog running loose a couple of days ago. The dog is described as being like a pit bull/boxer mix, large, and reddish brown.

Has anyone else seen this dog, or heard about similar incidents in the neighborhood?

My neighbors dog (which he stupidly lets run free and barking all the time) also got attacked by a pitbull recently. Very sad to hear about your neighbours cat, too sad.gif I hate to see any animals, especially the pit bulls, getting hurt or ignored.

Animal control isn't the most "responsive", but they do react. Give Cindy another call during business hours and try and get an update on if they found the pitbull in your area.

A loose dog killed our neighbors cat about a year ago, turned out the dog belonged to a neighbor down the street and it had gotten out - it was a german shepard mix.

In my experinence with owners of problem pets, the owner of this dog will surely say "That's what dogs do" and "He thinks this is his territory so he was just trying to defend it", or "the cat provoked him, it's not his fault".

Some dog owners are really stupid and they will continue to let their dogs roam free/misbehave and feel it's justified for reasons you will never get your head around.

Perhaps the police forum tonight could be enlightened as to the animal control needs of the community. Seems to me that this is something quite common and a service we certainly pay for so perhaps we could get animal control to step it up a bit.

Just like horribly behaved children, horribly behaved pets are the fault of the owner, not the animal. Perhaps the owners ought to be picked up by the county along with the animal.
