Okay... this is just an FYI! If you live in the Sierra Woods are (Montrose, Perraud, Briarcliff, Ed Mitchell Park) be very careful with your kitties! Apparently over the weekend my neighbors spotted a coyote very early Saturday morning taking off with one of our neighborhood kittens sad.gif
He was actually on Sierra Woods Circle so be careful if you live over in this area. My neighbor tried to chase it down with a bat to see if it'd let go of the kitten but they lost him over at Ed Mitchell Park (not too far, but still quite a chase). Now that he's been fed in our area, everyone around better do a head count of their outdoor animals each morning (better yet, just keep them inside... but anyone with outdoor kitties knows this is a challenge with the meowing to get out all night long! Better inside, than an early morning breakfast for Wile E.

Has anyone else spotted any around recently? Who should we call to report this? Because I believe someone should know in order to track the wereabouts of them.

Your neighbor chased a coyote [who had lunch in his mouth] with a baseball bat?
Someone needed to video that - real men doing real things

Be sure to spay and neuter your pets! Or you're helping create Coyote bait!

I was setting up for a soccer tournament Saturday morning at Ed Mitchell park and was told that a coyote had been spotted. I wasn't real concerned as part of me feels they were there first so have a right to be there and they generally stay away from people. My daughter and I saw a coyote in Willow Springs a few months ago. I am an animal lover though and feel for the kitten and the kitten's family :-( It is always good to be on the look out in Folsom.....we are just rural enough that we can get some wild life around.

We used to live in the Kentfield section of Broadstone, and we backed up to the open space on E. Bidwell and we could hear coyotes every night. At that time, I had two small dogs that I worried about. Luckily, no harm done, though one night we had a racoon come through our dog door. My big Chessie thought she could wrestle the racoon, but I think the racoon won this little battle (the racoon scratched our dog's nose).

Back to the coyotes, be careful. A coyote actually attacked our neighbor's little Lhasa Apso. Somehow, the coyote climbed the fence, and was able to get in my neighbor's backyard. This was about 6 years ago, so maybe the coyote population has moved on.

There was a coyote sighting around McFarland Drive about a month ago. Same story - coyote had a neighbors cat in it's mouth. Thinking it is the same coyote.

That makes me a little nervous!!

Doesn't necessarily mean it's the same coyote. All wild animals hunt for food, including coyotes, which make their way in to neighborhoods and parks sometimes. Cats and small dogs are easy prey... just make sure your pets are indoors or can't get beyond your fences. If you let your cats roam free, just know that they may not return.

Very true John!

I actually don't have much to worry about. My 3 cats are indoor only and my 2 little dogs are only outside when someone is present. We have to worry about hawks and such too. He's only 3 pounds. Little guy gets lost in the lawn when we don't cut it! biggrin.gif

I do worry about all the outdoor animals around me.. I'll just keep my ears and eyes open.
