What's the closest place that sells vietnamese sandwiches?
The bakery by the asian market place behind Florin Mall is great, but a little far.

Yes. We got a Vietnamese sandwich there the other day, but it wasn't on the menu, the owner/clerk had to tell us that it was available. Beware, they use real chicken. (We found a bone in the sandwich) It was yummy.

Do a google serach in images on vietnamese sandwich. You get pictures that show the real thing.
I can't even describe what they are. I am not vietnamese. I just know I love those sandwiches.

Lollicup is primarily a coffee/tea/juice type place.
Check out this story for the low down on Bahn mi.

A Vietnamese friend once told me that they take whatever entree you'd normally eat with rice or noodles, and put it on a baguette instead.

I went out to Long Sandwich today and to my surprise they had quite a bit of business. The owner's name is Nam and he is very friendly. I had a tapioca drink and a chicken sandwich. Both were very good and I recommend this place.

The owner is really nice and very helpful. I still found the long sandwich dry. Lots of bread and meat, not enough veggies, just a little cilantro. Like the Vietnamese equavalent to lox and bagels. Tasty, and a great stomach filler (especially for a guy) but not what I want for lunch. I much prefer the traditional version in rice paper wrappers, which are usually served with a peanut or nam pla dip. can't get enough of those, though I try when I go to Bo Bo Vietnamese in front of Raleys.

the teas, however, looked really really interesting. I'm definately going back to lolli for some of those.

I went there with two male friends. I ordered the chicken along with someone else and the other person ordered a pork one. The service was great and the owner was very nice, but I wasn’t too fond of the sandwich. Very very dry and yes they use real chicken. I asked if it was chicken breast meat and he said yes, but it ended up being every part of the chicken with some cartilage, fat and skin. So, needless to say, I gave that one to one of the guys and ordered the pork. It was just ok, but the two gentlemen I was with loved it. Again, very dry, but this was the first time I have had Vietnamese sandwiches. smile.gif

THere is a Vietnamese sandwich joint in Roseville too. We go there quite often. Vietnamese sandwiches are actually derived from the French during their colonization of Vietnam.
