Hey Folsom use to be nice, but I guess we can expect problems like this now. Its seems that the down economy and the Light Rail are bringing more and more dirt baggs into town ! I just cant believe the city of Folsom is allowing all these problems to enter what use to be a family community ! Whats next home invasions ? Yeah maybe the police chief will approve more CCW's to Folsom citizens ! Just my two cents !

13 year old, that's a parenting problem.

( A growing problem in Folsom ??? that could be a new thread for sure )

We should deport this kid.

A 13 year old boy - unbelievable - what is wrong with this world?

Per the news this morning - it sounds like the manager stabbed is very protective of his store, employees and customers. I really hope he is ok.

Oh and the kid was trying to steal a BB gun. Yah, I want that kid to have a BB gun.. Oh my.

Carnies? Out of town dirt bags arriving via light rail?

No, a 13 year old boy being raised right here in Folsom.

You sure about that?

It hasn't hit the text highway....

And normally....this would.

The stabbing victim is my friend's father- I've gotten news that he is out of surgery and in the ICU. Keep him in your thoughts.
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O, no! it is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests, and is never shaken,
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Whithin his bending sickle’s compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error, and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

Shakespeare, Sonnet 116.

How about taking out "this world" and replace with "his parents"?

How a bout not?

Parts of this story seem fishy, to me.

The scuttle amongst the middle schoolers is that the kid was from El Dorado Hills....who knows if that is true or not but that's what my daughter was told.

Whats fishy about the story.......A 13 year old stole something had a knife got caught and stabbed the manager. What part is missing? He was a Folsom teen. You do not believe this happens in Folsom?

I think that since the perpetrator is a minor-you will never have access to "important"parts of the story. And anyone who sees a tiny little blurb and instantly villifies a strangers parenting without knowing the family-is being unduly judgemental.

That's all.

Ps...I have a pretty good idea that crime can happen anywhere. Both moral and legal laws are broken here in folsom, all the time.

+1

I am in my late 20's and hate Folsom teenagers. All the time when I am out they are out there causing problems. I was over by Folsom Lake Bowl and there were some that were coming from the school and causing problems and shouting obscenities at people because they thought it was funny.

This is what our future of America is and damned if you will see me around for it.

I'll move to Canada first.

Light rail? Sure, this person took light rail and walked all the way to Walmart to stab someone. God, it's way too easy to just throw blame around to outsiders.

Our town is still nice. Bad things happen in nice towns. Bad things happen by people who live in nice towns, it's not always outsiders and usually is from locals.

You want to make this town safer? The most important thing you can do is to get to know your neighbors. You don't have to be best friends with them, but know them. Create a neighborhood watch program, and it doesn't have to be "official." Tell your neighbors when you're going to be out of town. Pay attention to the cars that belong to your neighbors. Offer to keep an eye out when they are out of town. If you see something weird, tell your neighbors.

And good wholesome families is key as well. Make sure you know your neighbors AND THEIR KIDS. If you know their kids are causing trouble let the parents know. I remember back in my day (granted I'm still the younger generation) if we were getting into trouble a parent would come out and either tell the lot of us to break it off or go get the other parent so both moms/dads would yell at us. The problem today is not as many parents are involved in their kids lives and I see this from people I know.

I may sound like a broken record on this but I do blame the parents. I cannot count the number of times I have been in Walmart in Folsom (I usually stop by a half dozen to dozen times per month depending on need) and have found teenagers acting up while they are in groups or with parents and the parents not saying anything. I have even seen teens dressed like little hookers with their parents and their parents let them go out of the house that way!!!!!!

Can we get our innocence back to a more tolerable level?

We just did this. Made a map with everyone's phone numbers on it. We all call each other if we're leaving town.

We did this in our neighborhood too. It is a great idea and very helpful if anything goes wrong.
