At home you only get the condiments you want.
And if you grind your own meat, then you can have ground up ribeye or whatever is your favorite slab o' beef. Like bacon with your burger, grind up some bacon when you grind your beef and have it mixed in. Yummy yummy yummy for my tummy tummy tummy

As for ratings, it's not an up or down vote but rather the description of how they're prepared, made, presentation, quality and of course taste. from there I would assume we could find the BEST burger locally and good ones to recommend as well.
very good way to put that about in-n-out... I agree, lets add them to the list because they do make about the best fast food burger on the planet
I agree about the ratings....
- how they're prepared (grilled, fried, etc..)
- presentation (does the burger look good or does it look bad)
- quality of the ingredients (we'll need to ask about this and find out just how fresh everything is because that is the #1 most important factor to good food - freshness)
- taste (we can use a scale of 1-5 with 5 being best
this could be fun, now all we need to do is pick a place to start....and then a date

Now that you mention this I wonder why they don't do it commercially.

Rating should be 50/50 objective and subjective.

ok, oil is a fat.
the onion confit is cooked in a mix of canola and olive oil.
it is not carmelized. carmelizetion happens when you get the product hot enough for long enough to carmelize the natural sugars. this is not done when the onions are confit-ed.
also, wikipedia is a very unreliable place to get facts

agreed on 50/50 plus daves items.
let's start it and over a few weeks we'll wrap it up. must brings: camera for each place, need a humans and food shots, eatery inside and outside shot; at least three of us should be at each place to review/eat.
who's the crew and as dave asked, where to first?

I'll take care of the camera work.... how about we try the two places that started this whole idea - Folsom Bistro and Bidwell Street Bistro

Lunches are my preference too and I like that time frame too - it'll help beat the lunch crowd by a bit so we can get in more easily
Ok, how about we plan to try Folsom Bistro next week sometime?

oh man a pastrami cheeseburger...mmmmmm
where is Big Dip located? I think we need to add them to the list of contenders, originality also counts as a bonus and this place sounds like it has some unique burgers

Are you kidding or is that Sarcasm. I've been in Folsom almost 20 years and have yet to set into the dip for fear of catching something.
