Has the air in Folsom recently changed? People are not as friendly any more. It takes a lot of effort for a hello. At the park when I am with my kids, most moms don't want to return my greeting or look at me like "this is a land of no greeting" Strange as it sounds men are a little, only little, bit more friendlier. If you are walking on the sidewalk people walk like they can't see you. What is it?? I say Hi, and I get the look like I am crazy or a very small smile almost half or quarter hearted. I don't want to have a conversation but just a plain hello!!!

Ooh, I hope that's not happening here. One of the things I hate about going to San Francisco is the strange looks I get saying "Hello" to everyone I pass walking down Market St.

While there are probably a good number of people who are snobs, there are others who are just plain afraid to speak to people they don't know.

Fortunately, there are plenty of people in town who are outgoing and friendly.

Funny thing, and I am not sure why, but there are people who I would see in public, at events or in social situations who would not make eye contact with me, but once introduced, became very friendly.

Ooh, I hope that's not happening here. One of the things I hate about going to San Francisco is the strange looks I get saying "Hello" to everyone I pass walking down Market St.

I used to notice that back east. I would get so well derailed by the quick looks-purse clutches-or the long stares.

Now when I travel I have this philosophy. I'm gonna take my smile wherever I go. I will say hello and smile and frankly not expect a return. When I do get on my smile just gets bigger and I feel like I just passed another like soul in quiet fearful world.

As for those who don't smile or return the hello-maybe they are preoccupied-or deaf-or maybe they just don't know what to make of seeing an incredibly beautiful soul say hello to them!!

No I smile even to them. The great thing about me is that even after being quickly offended I tend to let go and move on. DO YOU?

that's too cute...

hey CV...where'd you put your drink guzzling squirrel...i wanted to show my girls the other day...often they are peering over my shoulder as I'm here on myfolsom and they both cracked up at the dancing horse head...

Put the squirrel back...please!

I don't see the snobbiness people refer to about folsom. I smile at people and they smile back most of the time...of course there is the occasional grumpy old man or ill tempered type but, in general, people usually return the smile and hello.

Yeah, my son likes the dancing horse head, too, and the beer guzzling squirrel.

Just showed him the light saber squirrels today and it totally cracked him up.

What was the topic again? Oh, yeah, snobbish people. I always try to say hello. I'm not the most outgoing person and sometimes I think people may take that as snobbish when what it really is is difficulty with figuring out what to say after hello to a stranger.

Folsom is much friendlier than some other places in California. OC for example.
