I moved from a track home that was almost 2500 sq ft, 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, Living Room, Family Room and 20 x 20 bonus room. To this little 1000 sq ft 2 bedroom 1 bath home (added 2nd bathroom). I have fallen in love with it and the neighborhood and history and would never want to go back to what I had before.

Historic district is bordered by the river on the north, Folsom Blvd., on the west, Bidwell Street on the south to Riley, then Riley north to Persifer, Persifer east to Coloma, and Coloma north to the river. This are was the "Judah tract" as originally laid out by Theodore Judah.

Funny, I live west of Folsom Blvd. and I live within the boundaries of the Historic District. It's actually a bit bigger than what Terry described, extending as far east as Stafford St., as far south as Dean, and as far southwest as the southerly boudaries of the Lakeside Cemetery and the Preserve (yes all those 10 year-old houses in the Preserve are in the HD, as is the Corp Yard, the Veteran's hall and a few dozen other houses and apartments), roughly the extension of Bidwell St. to the State Park. Here's the exact description, if you can read legal descriptioneeze and there is also a map (in AutoCAD format only) on the cities web site: http://www.ordlink.c...istrict_bo.html
BTW, I agree completely with Terry and others on reasons to like the HD, except for the part about parking wherever you want.
