So way back on July 24th, there was a fire that destroyed a home on Wool street in the Historic District. It sat for months with piles of debris and police tape in the front yard, before someone came and picked them up. Then, several months later, a few guys were in and out of there one afternoon, and looks like they stripped all the siding off and then covered the holes where the windows once were with particle board, and covered the roof in blue plastic.
In the mean time, the yard is dead, the thing is a great big eyesore, and I can't tell that anything else is happening. I'm really sick of looking at it, and a little worried that it could attract squatters. Anyone have any idea how long these things usually take? I don't mean to be heartless, as I know that a couple lost their home and I'm sure most of their belongings and I'm so sorry for what they went through. It's just that it's been like, 8 months now, and it looks like nothing is happening. Could it be that insurance is just taking this long?

Could be that they were drastically underinsured and had a big loan on the place.
Or if the fire was of a suspicious nature or found to be caused intentionally, there might be a delayed payoff or none at all.

Have you been by lately? It's coming along. I don't have an answer about why, it just is nice to see it moving along toward completion.

We have and it looks great! I'm so glad that they were able to save it. I'm sure it's going to be a long process, but what an improvement already!

In the case of the Mexican Inn, so little remained of the original that Im not too upset. The Workmans Hotel, though, saddens me a great deal.
Do you know what the duplexes were demolished for? They were cute.
