Much to my dismay, I received a Notice of Public Hearing/Tentative Parcel Map in the mail today for 89 Scholar Way. If I'm reading correctly, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has applied for subdivision of their 8.8 acre property, to create two parcels (one that their church resides on, and the second to be zoned Multifamily High Density... I'm no genius but I'm pretty sure that's another name for Apartments). Given that we bought our house in 2005, clearly we've suffered a great decline in property value over the past 3 years. We thought we were nearing the end of the property devaluation nightmare and never imagined that other forces (besides the economy) would have a negative impact, however, I can't imagine that construction of yet another apartment complex in our community could be in any homeowners best interest. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against apartment dwellers (I was a renter for many years myself) but, as a homeowner, I worry about the impact on my property value and wonder why a new complex would be considered when so many are sitting half-vacant right now. Although I don't know many of my neighbors, I wonder how others in the community feel about this and if those who feel like I do might be interested in attending the May 6th City Coucil Meeting at 6:30PM. If we don't speak up now, we won't have a voice later!

The city needs money, they'll approve anything right now. Doesn't matter what you say or do at any meetings. 100's of people couldn't even get a fair contest to name the stupid bridge so what are the chances on this one? If anything the builder will go broke before he even breaks ground.

In the meantime, they could sub-divide all the empty lots at the grand Palladio Mall for a while, ya know, for all those people looking for cheap housing here in Folsom.

...Saying what people are thinking but are afraid to say....
