Saw this morning that Straw Hat Pizza is going into the Baja Fresh location near Safeway. Big 'coming soon' sign on the window.

I beg to differ. While I would not say that it is great pizza, I have had much worse.

Although I do not care for Straw Hat, I have to think that is a great location for a pizza joint. I'm sure FHS students will go there after school, following sporting events, etc. The Straw Hat in Rancho has great lunch specials.

There was a Straw Hat Pizza where I grew up. I have fond memories of watching my brother play Ms. Pac-Man. Back then they had a mechanical horse you could ride for a penny and a big screen for showing movies. The pizza was pretty good then, but that was many years ago. I wouldn't mind trying the Straw Hat Pizza when it opens up. Hopefully the pizza will taste good.

I agree. I remember the night I lost a tooth eating an apple while riding to pizza. I lost another tooth when I was eating pizza. My family got to celebrate with a Thriftys ice cream cone!

I haven't had Straw Hat pizza in years, but when I did it was pretty tasty. I'm going to stay positive and give it a try when it opens. Businesses opening in this economy need all they help they can get. I'd rather not see the space stay empty.

Chicago Fire is in a class by itself. You cannot compare it to Straw Hat, Round Table, etc.

I have fond memories of the Straw Hat Pizza at Rockridge in Oakland/Berkeley. It was this huge old wood building, dark and cavernous inside and they had a movie screen where they played old movies, 3 Stooges, WC Fields,etc....and the video games and the mechanical pony.
Boy, that takes me back
