Were dogs barking at it? I heard fellow dogs barking late last night while my master and I were watching a movie.

Yes, the small dogs that belong to the neighbor across the street were barking at it... Then they started barking more when I tried to find the kitten in the bushes with a flashlight !!!!! Oops..sorry for all the noise!

She finally followed us into our house and she's still here!
well, we had our windows open, if they had been closed, we probably wouldn't have heard anything, but the barking did sound like little dog barks, not big dog barks, and definitely not a wolflike malamute howl. I was staying quiet. I usually only howl at sirens, or if I hear a dog that is crying in pain.
BTW, I hope you find the owner.

Call Cindy Walden, Animal Services Officer
439-2268
She might have received a call about a missing cat.
What are your plns for the kitten if you don't find the owner?

Already called Cindy this morning. She said I could take her to Blue Ravine Animal Hospital. They hold the lost/found pets for 7 days and then they adopt them out. Took her today at lunch to see if she had a Microchip - nope. Had her tested for Feline Leuk/HIV - negative (wanted to check since I have cats of my own at home). Tried to give her to them but just couldn't!!! OH MY!! I'm going to do my best to find her a nice indoor only home(not that they couldn't - I'm a dork) . There are so many kittens out there - it may be hard to do. I shouldn't keep her but I will if I can't find her a good home... I'm such a sucker!
Do you know anyone looking for a indoor only kitten?

You should contact Animal Outreach at the Mother Lode. They may be able to help find a home for the cat. They do cat adoptions at PetSmart on E. Bidwell. I thin kthey will let you foster the cat during the week and then you can bring it into PetSmart where they will try to get it adopted on the weekend. I cannot guarantee this, but they did it for a kitten we found.

After I came home from an errand Thursday morning (qnd before I went into work) there was a cat screming at me before I even opened the car door. She (my universal gender for all cats) was very friendly, kept rubbing on me, and tried to jump up on me to hold her.
I thought she might want to take me somewhere--maybe she had kittens or something--but she didn't appear to want to go anywhere except with me. She would have followed me into the house, but when I opened the door and the alarm timer went off, she didn't want any part of that. She looked a little skinny so I broke my cardinal rule and fed her some cat food. She gobbled it up. I went to work and I haven't seen her since.
We don't live anywhere near the first poster. In fact we live on the north side of the river on the bike trail. (We get all sorts of critters) Considering the fact that I fed her, I'm surprised she hasn't returned. However, I'm usually not there during that time of day.

Folsom Felines is another group to contact. Be sure to tell them you are willing to foster (if you are) until it gets adopted. They would take care of all shots, spay/neuter, and other medical needs, which will make it much more desirable to a potential forever home. They may not have the room/funds to take on another kitty right now, but worth a shot. www.folsomfelines.org

Thanks everyone for all the information. It nice to see others that care... There are many out there that don't....
I called Folsom Feline ealier today and the recording said they were not taking any more kittens or cats. I guess I could still leave a message saying I am willing to foster.. Plus, I really like the organization - I used to volunteer for them.
I'll try animal outreach too.. I thought they only operated in Placerville so thanks for letting me know they work in Folsom too.
Everyone seems to be overloaded with kittens so I hope I can find her a good home. But I have one here just would be pushing the limits for the # of animals in my house... Can you say OVERLOAD?
Crossing my fingers.

She's hanging with me now in the computer room... Very busy little kitten... She said thanks also!

Honestly, if you are willing to foster, and go to adoption events, call every rescue group in Sacramento, Placer and Eldorado counties. Some of these places have very far reaching networks. At the very least, ask if they would put up a courtesy listing on petfinder.com for you (only shelters/rescues can post there).
Oh yeah, and Agee Memorial Wildlife shares the space with Animal Outreach here in Folsom, so try them too.

Called Animal Outreach and Folsom Feline last night - left messages that I have the kitten and I'm willing to foster... Let's see if I get calls back.. If not, she's pretty darn happy at our house.... Yah think! Oh, what am I thinking!!
