We are looking for a new private school to take our kids from elementary to middle school and would like some recommendations. It would be nice to stay somewhere in the Folsom to Downtown corridor. Not leaning toward a heavily faith based school, but some would be ok. Anyone have any recommendations?

Sacramento Country Day School: http://www.saccds.org/

It's expensive, but it's outstanding. PM me for more info if you'd like. You'd be surprised how many people from Folsom/EDH go there; we were always able to set up a car pool.

We're happy with Golden Hills (advertises on myfolsom.com) - JrK-8. It's in the EDH business park. For us it's one exit the wrong way (we commute to downtown Sac) but haven't found the drive to be a problem. Usually take White Rock to Scott to hop on the freeway. It's not faith based but they have a "character education" component.

Our daughter went to GH for 8th grade and we were hugely disappointed. Perhaps the academics have picked up since then (it was several years ago), but based on our experience I'd be hard-pressed to make a recommendation.

Sacramento Country Day. Our kindergartner goes there, we chose the school due to it's outstanding reputation, non-faith based curriculum and the fact that it is a K-12 school, plus the bus is a HUGE bonus!

We moved our now 5th grader and 7th grader to Horizon Charter School/ Accelerated Learning Academy in Rockin this school year. This is a fantastic school. It's tuition free, small class sizes and outstanding test scores. Even though it is a "public school", it operates like a small private school. They are expanding next school year and will be K-12. My 2nd grader is still at Empire Oaks, but will move to ALA for 3rd.
