The field is set for this November's Folsom City Council Election. Two seats are up for grabs, incumbents Ernie Sheldon and Jeff Starsky running for re-election.

Two candidates who lost out in 2014 are running again. Security Consultant Roger Gaylord, and Marketing Communications Manager Chad Vander Veen are back for another chance.

New to the field is Businessman Rob Ross, who currently serves as a Commissioner with Folsom Parks and Recreation.

Come meet the Folsom City Council candidates and find out what their visions are for Folsom's future. The Folsom Chamber of Commerce is hosting a candidate forum August 24 at Harris Center, Folsom Lake College.

Hot election topics include water, development, safety, and growth, particularly the South of 50 area.

Don't miss this opportunity to find out where the candidates stand on the issues.

The event runs from 6pm to 8pm, is free to attend, but there will be a small fee for parking.

When: August 24, 6 to 8pm

Where: Folsom Lake College, Harris Center for the Performing Arts

Why: Our future is at stake!

I meant parking free. Apparently, attendance and parking are both free!

We thought about going but think it will be the same old thing as usual.

Here's my take. I'm sure Steve and others will chime in. In no particular order . . .

Jeff has the most experience and it showed. He explained things well and kept everything really positive.

Ernie was cracking me up. He said something to the effect of "We don't get dumb as we get older, we just get older." Not the most polished or sophisticated speaker up there but with Ernie what you see is what you get which I appreciate.

Roger Gaylord has matured and mellowed since he first ran four years ago although I had a tough time following some of his answers.

Chad's focus is on green issues, sustainability, etc. Read a lot of his answers which I thought was interesting. Not sure if he anticipated some questions and had something prepared in advance or if he wrote his answers there.

Rob Ross talked about bringing his technology background to the city. Has a basic understanding of the major issues and was well spoken.

All in all it was a good night. Thanks to all of the candidates for participating and Roger Niello for moderating. He was terrific!

In a forum such as that one with 5 candidates, anyone who has to read his answers is NOT ready for PrimeTime.

Chad is OFF of my list.

2Aces, were you at the forum?  If not, I recommend you watch the recordings at facebook.com/folsomtv.  There are two parts.  I know they had some technical issues and the first 4 1/2 minutes of the second recording don't have sound.  I hope no one chooses a candidate based on my brief comments above.

I trust your characterization, SCA.

Besides, I don't do Facebook.
